Crete with Brent Laffoon

Teachers:

Dates: Wed, 4 May 2016 - Tue, 9 May 2017

Known among the ancient Greeks as the "land of the unconscious", Crete is a stunning, mystical island with a unique history and culture. Home to the ruins of the oldest city in Europe, some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean and a virtually endless variety of spectacular mountains and coastlines, it is the perfect location for a yoga adventure! There are two parts to this retreat - a more rustic, authentically Greek experience in the western mountains, and a super luxurious, authentically indulgent experience along the central coast. You are welcome to come for one or both. Each part will give you a very different taste of what Crete has to offer, with plenty of opportunities to explore, relax, eat amazing food, practice yoga and of course, the best part of all, meet and make new friends. I will be leading this retreat with a special guest teacher to be announced soon... I hope you can join us!

PART I: May 4-9

For Part One, we will be staying at the beautiful Milia Mountain Retreat, on the western side of Crete. Our adventures here will take us to several gorgeous beaches, on various hikes, including the famous Samaria Gorge (rated one of best hikes in Europe), as well as a day trip to the charming city of Chania. Mornings will offer a vigorous yoga practice overlooking the mountains, afternoons will offer a restorative practice and meditation... and the rest of the day will be filled with delicious food, good company and beautiful scenery.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

  • Rustic (but of course clean and lovely) accommodations at Milia
  • Breakfast and dinner, prepared fresh daily by Milia's kitchen, as well as three lunches
  • Twice daily yoga and meditation practices
  • Transfer to and from the Chania Airport
  • Daily excursions to various beaches, hikes and other points of interest
  • Dinner at a local restaurant (place TBD by group decision)

WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED: Your flights to Athens and Chania, massages or other special treatments, any alcohol you wish to consume... and the bail to get you out of Greek prison if you drink too much red wine and end up doing something ill-advised 🙂

COST: $1250 (shared room); $1550 (private room)**

DEPOSIT: $500, non-refundable after Feb. 1, 2017

**Please note: If you come on Part One, we HIGHLY recommend arriving in Athens a day early and staying the night at a local hotel. This will give you time to see a few sights in Athens, but more importantly, it will allow you to take a morning flight to Crete the next day. It is possible to arrive in Athens on an overnight flight and go straight from there to Crete, but that is a long trip and you will be tired and unhappy and we don't want that!!
